About Department
- The Department of English has been associated with Netaji Nagar Day College since its inception. Sri Charu Mondal, Sri Subir Chakraborty, Srimati Sumana Bhattacharya and Dr Sujato Ghosh have taught in the department in the past. The present Head of this department is Dr Santanu Ganguly who has joined the Department in 2010. He has wide experience in PG teaching in other institutions, and is a former NCC officer with 2/11 Bengal Battalion NCC, Indian Army. Smt Shaswati Ghosh is Associate Professor in the department while one substantive post remains to be filled up as of 2018. Sri Shreechandan Biswas is a Govt-approved Part-time teacher and there are two guest lecturers — Madhurima Mullick and Rituparna Chatterjee. The faculty members have published widely and organized different activities. In both its visits, NAAC has recommended that the department start a PG course to maintain academic excellence. The Department is sensitive towards its students’ progress, has conducted seminars and invited eminent people from colleges and universities to lecture students on various aspects of literature.
